Meet Andrea Lalen-Kasten

The independent fiduciary Reno individuals call when an estate turns complicated — steady, neutral, and already paying attention.
A Neutral, Fiduciary-First Firm

When a trust, estate, or individual situation becomes complicated, people need more than someone who understands the paperwork. They need someone who can stay steady, explain what comes next, and make decisions without being pulled into the conflict. That is the role Andrea Lalen-Kasten has spent more than two decades preparing to fill. As founder, President, and CEO of Battleborn Fiduciary Firm, LLC, Andrea brings 21+ years of fiduciary experience to individuals, beneficiaries, grantors, attorneys, and professional advisors who need clear leadership through trust administration, probate, estate settlement, and other sensitive fiduciary matters.

A Career Built Around Fiduciary Responsibility

Andrea began her fiduciary career in 2005 at a private guardianship firm, serving individuals whose personal, financial, or estate affairs had been placed under court supervision because of incapacity. Working directly with wards, individuals, attorneys, and the courts gave her an early understanding of how legal obligations, financial responsibilities, and relationship dynamics can collide during some of life’s most difficult transitions.

That work shaped the direction of her career. Andrea went on to focus on estate settlements, probate administration, trust administration, Nevada asset protection strategies, and complex trust and estate matters. Her experience includes working with high-net-worth and multi-generational trusts and coordinating with the legal, accounting, financial, valuation, healthcare, and other professionals a matter may require.

Andrea holds a degree in Human Services and is an advanced graduate of the Cannon Financial Institute Trust School, with training as a Trustee and Fiduciary Advisor. That combination of fiduciary experience and human-services perspective helps her understand both sides of the work: the legal and financial responsibilities that must be carried out correctly, and the people who are living through the consequences of those decisions.

What Acting as a Fiduciary Means to Andrea

For Andrea, fiduciary work starts with a simple standard: the interests of the client, trust, or estate come first. That responsibility requires care, diligence, impartiality, accurate accounting, and close adherence to the governing documents and applicable law.

It also requires neutrality. Individuals may have different memories of what a parent intended, beneficiaries may disagree, or emotions may be running high after a loss. Andrea’s responsibility is not to take sides. It is to remain focused on what has been legally directed, protect and manage the assets entrusted to her, and carry out the grantor’s wishes with integrity and respect.

She sees that responsibility as more than administration. It is stewardship of a person’s legacy, often at a time when an individual needs consistency and objectivity most.

Clear Communication, Without the Guesswork

Andrea's communication style is direct, clear, and consistent. Clients and individuals should understand where they are in the process, what has already been handled, what comes next, and what is needed from them. She avoids unnecessary jargon and explains legal or financial details in straightforward language so people are not left trying to interpret technical terminology during an already stressful time. Responsiveness is equally important. Andrea believes individuals should not be left waiting for basic updates or wondering whether something is moving forward. She provides timely communication, makes herself available for questions as they arise, and approaches every conversation with professionalism, neutrality, and respect for everyone involved.

A Collaborative Fiduciary, Not a Replacement for Your Advisors

Andrea provides direct fiduciary leadership and oversight while working with a broad network of trusted professionals in legal, financial, accounting, tax, valuation, real estate, healthcare, and other specialized fields. When an individual already has an attorney, CPA, financial advisor, or other trusted professional, she welcomes that relationship.

Her role is not to replace a client’s established team. It is to work alongside that team, coordinate responsibilities, maintain clear communication, and keep the trust or estate moving in accordance with the governing documents and fiduciary obligations.

Rooted in Reno, Connected to the Community

Andrea moved to the Reno, Nevada area more than 35 years ago from a small town north of Houston, Texas. She built her life in Northern Nevada while maintaining strong ties to both Nevada and Texas, and today her connection to the community extends well beyond her professional work.

She serves on the board of the For Kids Foundation. As the wife of her college sweetheart and the mother of four children, including two with special needs, Andrea has also developed a deeply personal understanding of advocacy, healthcare navigation, and the importance of helping individuals find the right resources when circumstances are complicated.

Outside the office, Andrea enjoys traveling, live music festivals and concerts, museums, specialized events, modeling, charitable endeavors, and exploring Nevada’s rural landscapes and hidden destinations with her husband and children. Adventure, creativity, and service remain central to the life she has built here.

Fiduciary Leadership That Feels Personal

Andrea’s approach is intentionally hands-on. She wants clients and individuals to feel informed rather than overwhelmed, supported rather than passed from department to department, and confident that the person responsible for the matter is actively engaged throughout the process. For individuals dealing with a trust, probate matter, estate settlement, or another fiduciary responsibility that feels bigger or more complicated than expected, that combination of experience, neutrality, and direct communication can make a difficult process far more manageable.
